VENUS RETROGRADE IN ARIES AND PISCES: REVIVE, REFLECT, REBEL

If you would prefer to listen to this post instead of read, then you can do so on my podcast here

Venus will go retrograde in Aries from March 1st to March 27th, 2025, then it will be retrograde in Pisces. There will be a different tone and energy when Venus is retro in Aries versus Pisces, but there are still some general themes of both that will pervade the next few months.

I am excited for this Venus retrograde because Venus retrogrades tend to be periods where women and genderqueer folks are more in the spotlight. It’s not always a positive spotlight, however. Venus retrogrades tend to highlight the rise and fall of women and folks who fuck with gender norms, whereas Mars retrogrades tend to highlight the rise and fall of cis het men. Venus retrogrades highlight the oppression of women, trans folks and queer folks. It’s a time of fucking with the gender, social, and sexuality norms.

Venus has a history with queer rights and movements. Venus retrograde (in Aries, in particular) will likely bring more marches, protests, and discussion for trans rights and care. We’ve been seeing this as Venus has been in its shadow period gearing up for its retrograde. While it’s going to continue to be a battle fighting for our rights, I think we will see some progress amidst the incredible backlash like courts ruling in favor of trans rights, and some hospitals returning to give gender care. As I mentioned in this blog post, whenever there has been progress, there is backlash, and whenever there is backlash, there is progress.

March and April will be the showstopper months as this Venus retrograde is coinciding with eclipse season, and eclipses are really big, eventful times, especially for the world at large and political events. Eclipses bring endings and beginnings for everyone.

In addition, Mercury will go retrograde during the Venus retrograde and eclipse window (March 14-April 7), so we’re getting double dosage of drama, chaos, change, and upheaval. Oh, and, Neptune will move into Aries on March 30th, the day after the Aries eclipse, and Neptune has been in one sign (Pisces) since 2012, so this is a big deal. March and April are major. Prepare for a lot of change, and significant turning points in your life and in the world. Try not to schedule more than you need to, and leave space open for the changes that will occur.

Reflecting On Relationships

Venus represents relationships (romantic and friendship), love, bonding, connection, unity, harmony, beauty, art, creativity, pleasures, hobbies, joys, desire, gender, sexuality, and social norms. When a planet is retrograde, it's a time of reflection and review of what that planet signifies.

You might find yourself reflecting more on past or current friendships and romances during this Venus retrograde. You might be remembering times when friends or lovers ghosted you, broke up with you, or when you broke up with them. Watch for exes popping back into your life during this time, and being confronted with what your boundaries are with that person, and whether you want them back in your life or not. You could also be reviewing what you've learned about love and relationships over the years (all kinds of relationships), like how you want to love, how you need to be loved, how you tend to love, and what your tendencies are in relationship.

Venus retrogrades are opportunities to reflect on what romance and friendship mean to you, and how you might want to do relationship differently. Venus retrogrades can be challenging for some people's relationships, and some couples break up during this time. If you’re in a romantic relationship, you could be more in touch with what isn't working in your relationship and what hasn't been working. You could be more in touch with the ways you have felt less agency and power, and where there have been inequities and imbalances in your relationships (even in some of your friendships).

Venus retrograde can show us where and how patriarchy shows up in our everyday lives, including in our relationships. Venus retrograde will be most challenging for those who are not interested in divesting from patriarchy, and who haven't been doing the work to unlearn patriarchal norms.

If you're single, then Venus retrograde is a great time to reflect on whether you want to be in a relationship, and if you do, to think about what your needs and desires are in a relationship. Think about what is most important to you, and how you can prioritize getting your needs and desires met. Old friends can pop back up in your life during this time as well. It’s an opportunity to ask yourself, where am I at now in my life? Do I want this person back in my life? Sometimes, you’re in a completely different period of your life where past friends don’t fit anymore, and that’s okay.

Reviving Past Creative Ideas and Projects

Venus retrograde can drawn you to revisit an old artistic or creative hobby or project, like writing a novel, knitting, baking, painting, dancing, poetry, filmmaking, or writing a screenplay. This is a great time to come back to a creative project that you've previously started but didn't finish. You could also be coming back to a business idea that you had for yourself years ago, but didn’t follow through with for whatever reason, and, now, is the time to put it into action.

Venus’ retrograde in Aries can be a time of reviving the artist and creative in you, and this might be more amplified during Venus’ retrograde in Pisces because of what Pisces represents versus Aries. Venus in Pisces is Venus in Jupiter’s sign and the sign of Venus’ exaltation, which is dreamy, imaginative, creative, artistic, romantic, intuitive, spiritual, and feeling-oriented. When a planet is in a sign of its exaltation, it has great dignity and is able to do what it wants to do. With it being retrograde, what it wants to do is revisit the past, go back over what has happened before, and perhaps revive artistic and creative projects that you began prior.

Jupiter represents our dreams, our dreams for our life and for the world. For some people, this time will point out how one has put their dreams for themselves on hold in order to take care of others or let others shine instead of themselves. That can be an uncomfortable realization to have, and it can also be powerful and life changing. For other folks, this time could get you more in touch with the artist in you. With the north node in Pisces, you could feel more of a hungering to do art and express yourself in an artistic way. This is one reason why I said in this podcast episode that 2025 was the year of embracing yourself as an artist.

Venus is also adornments, so this Venus retrograde could spark you to think about decorating or redecorating your space or your website, rebranding your business, or your physical appearance. You might want to get a different haircut, buy new glasses, change up your wardrobe, or divest yourself from beauty standards.

When Venus starts its retrograde in Aries, this has more of a punk rock vibe. Aries is the sign of new beginnings and rebelling. You might feel more like rebelling against beauty, gender, sexual, societal norms, and any constraints in your life that aren't serving you. You could even be questioning your gender identity, pronouns, and/or your sexual orientation.

Venus retrograde in Aries is in Mars's sign, so this has to do with Martial traits. This can consist of women and non-binary folks being more provocative, controversial, sexual, athletic, blunt, honest, fiery, empowered, powerful, taking back your power and agency, liberation, breaking free from social constraints and expectations, and having extra toughness and warrior energy. We will probably see women and genderqueer folks more in a Marsy kind of way the first half of the Venus retrograde, and, then when Venus moves into Pisces, there will be more of that Jupitarian and Venusian, watery, softer, dreamier vibe.

You will likely feel like starting something new since Aries is a cardinal sign, and the ruler, Mars, is in Cancer, another cardinal sign. But, this something new may not necessarily be something brand new because, again, retrograde. It will likely be something from your past, something you've been interested in before, but didn't pursue for whatever reason. It could even be something from your childhood or teenage years. You could also feel ready for something brand new, but before you can implement a new beginning in your life, there is some business you need to take care of, perhaps something you need to complete or end. Eclipses are all about major endings and major beginnings, and, since, this Venus retrograde is coinciding with the eclipses, the endings and beginnings that happen during these next few months could be extra significant for you.

Will you be more affected by this Venus retrograde?

To be clear, everyone will experience the energy of Venus retrograde, but it will be more potent for some than others. If you were born under a Venus retrograde, then this will be more important for you. Also, if your natal Venus is in Aries or Pisces, then this will be more potent for you. But, in general, this is going to be a big Venus retro because of it coinciding with eclipse season. There's going to be a lot going on in society and the world, and there will likely be a lot going on in your personal life as well. March could be the busiest month for you. If you have planets in Aries or Pisces, then this month will be more potent for you. Also, if you have planets in Virgo, then this is an important month for you because our first eclipse of the year, and of March, will be in Virgo on March 13th.

May this Venus retrograde be a time of helpful review, reflection, rebellion, renewal, and revival for you.
