You’ll need to know what signs your Rising Sign, Moon and Sun are in. If you don’t already know, then you can look it up here. You’ll need to know your exact birth time in order to know your Rising Sign. Choose “whole sign” house system under “Settings.” The sign that occupies your 1st house is your Rising Sign. If you scroll down the page, after entering your birth information, it will tell you which sign the planets are in in your birth chart. Note that your Ascendant is also the same sign as your Rising Sign.
INTRO
Let me briefly introduce myself. My name is Cameron Airen, and I’m a professional astrologer supporting old souls to live more of the life their soul intended. I have my certificate from The Hellenistic Astrology Course. I'm a SF Giants and baseball fan, book and art lover, movie and tv buff, coffee drinker, interested in ancient history, love talking about past lives, and an advocate for queer, intersectional feminism.
I’ve been interested in astrology my whole life. Once I started studying its ancient roots and paid attention to how the planets signify events in our lives, I was blown away by how well this divination worked. I find astrology to be a useful tool in affirming and discovering our life experiences, purposes, and connecting more with our spiritual essence.
I have a M.A. in Anthropology and Social Change and a B.A. in Women and Gender Studies. I’ve worked as a life coach, feminist, queer gender consultant, teacher and mentor, personal trainer and running coach. As an empath, intuitive, and highly sensitive person, I’ve always been able to see people’s gifts and have a desire to support them living a more fulfilling life. Most of my clients throughout the years have been multi-passionate humans who need to live life on their terms, not by society’s standards.
Welcome, I’m glad you’re here!
YOUR RISING SIGn
Your Rising Sign is the most personal part of you. As I mentioned in my podcast episode on Why You’re More Than Your Sun Sign, ancient astrologers saw your Rising Sign as describing your personality and self. Pop modern astrology has taught us that our Sun Sign encompasses who we are, but it’s only one slice of the pie that makes up who you are and your life.
As past life psychic, Ainslie MacLeod says, “Who you are is why you’re here”. In ancient astrology, your Rising Sign described who you are and the direction of your life. Understanding your Rising Sign helps you better understand yourself and the life that’s important to you.
If you haven’t resonated much with your Sun sign, perhaps you resonate with your Rising sign more? On the contrary, if you feel like you’ve resonated more with your Sun sign than your Rising sign, I encourage you to dig deeper into your Rising Sign, and peel back the various layers it has to offer. Put your Sun sign and every other sign on the back burner for now and think about what traits of this sign might describe you, your demeanor, and/or how you operate.
When I started learning more about my Rising sign, I unraveled deeper parts of myself that I knew existed, but I hadn’t truly affirmed or embraced. Now, I embrace the qualities of this sign that are in me and I can see how they 100% attribute to the things my soul came into this life to do. For example, my rising sign is Cancer. I’ve learned to embrace my intuitive, nurturing, and sensitive gifts. They contribute to everything that I have wanted to do, including being an astrologer, a life coach, and a feminist creator to name a few. My Rising Sign also explains why it’s important to me that everyone in my space feels safe and nurtured.
How do the qualities of your Rising Sign contribute to what’s important to you, how you show up, and your gifts and talents?
I’ve done a podcast episode on each of the signs and the planet that rules them. Click the link, below, to learn more about yourself and your life.
Also, did you know that the planet that rules your Rising Sign is the one trying to steer the ship of your life? Learn more in this podcast episode where I shared more about this. I encourage you to take some time and space to focus on your Rising Sign thinking about how it describes you and the direction of your life. May you expand your mind beyond your Sun sign, and begin to unravel the other, beautiful layers that make up your life and who you are.
And, whenever you’re ready, you can keep scrolling to read about how your Moon sign reveals another part of your soul’s purpose.
YOUR MOON SIGN
The Moon represents your body, home, environment, and what kind of nourishment you need in order to be well and live the life your soul intented. Getting your needs met allows you to thrive and do more of what you’re passionate about.Your Moon sign reveals what and where you feel nurtured. It tells you what you need to feel okay, safe, well, thrive, inspired, motivated, and nourished. Beyond our basic needs of food, water, shelter, clothing and safety, there are other things we need in order to fully show up and feel like our whole selves.
Where and how you need to be nurtured is part of your purpose. Your purpose doesn’t just involve your career or what you do for work. It also involves your relationships, where you live, and your hobbies. The Moon is home and the environment. Where you live and how you live can be part of your purpose. If you have a strong desire for a particular kind of home or living situation and it’s something you think about often, then this is part of your purpose. This could also include the desire to live a more nomadic life whether that’s traveling around in a van, house sitting full-time, living on a boat, or moving around a lot.
To be clear, this is different from not having shelter, a house or home because of economic inequalities and inequities. I don’t believe that people being oppressed socially and economically is part of their purpose. Having a stable home, owning a home, and being able to afford rent are privileges that not everyone has access to because of a variety of factors, but certainly social and economic inequalities are a big part of that. Systemic oppression can and does get in the way of many folks being able to live out their multiple purposes, or it makes it harder.
You also might have an easier time living out one part of your soul’s purpose while another part takes more time and work. Obviously, not everyone gets all of the opportunities that they should have. This is why working for one another’s liberation is so important, and part of what many of our souls came here to do, especially old souls. As Audre Lorde, a Black, lesbian, feminist poet said, “I am not free while any woman is unfree, even when her shackles are very different from my own.”
I strongly believe that part of our purpose includes helping each other get free from systems of oppression. As individuals, we are not islands. The Moon gathers and includes wanting us to connect with each other, include one another, and help nurture each other from oppression and hardship. Your Moon sign could point to you being an advocate for folks to have access to stable and affordable housing, and/or trying to create more sustainable environments as the Moon represents both of these things. The social causes and justice you advocate for are 100% part of your purpose. Everyone has a role in social justice, whether that role is front and center or more behind-the-scenes. The Moon guides us to nourish and nurture a more supportive and liberating world for all.
Think about your Moon sign. This tells you how you need to be nourished and how you can bring nourishment to others. It tells you what kind of home and environment are best for you so that you can thrive more. It also tells you what your body might struggle with, and what your body needs to feel okay. You can go back to the Rising Sign section to learn more about your Moon sign. I encourage you to take some time and space to focus on your Moon Sign and placement thinking about how it describes what you need as part of your purpose. May you begin to get more of your needs met and feel nourished.
In addition, if you want to learn more about The Moon and what it signifies, listen my podcast episode on Cancer & The Moon here (even if you don’t have any planets in Cancer).
YOUR SUN SIGN
In this last section, we’re going to look at your Sun sign to find out more about what your soul came here to do. Past life psychic, Ainslie MacLeod says, “Your destiny is not a secret.” Who you are, what you’re passionate about, and what feels the most meaningful to you are all signs of your destiny. They’re all signs of the kinds of things your soul is here to do.
Your Rising Sign shows you who you are. Your Moon sign shows you what and where you feel nourished and nurtured. Your Sun sign shows you how and where you shine.
The Sun’s role is to shine and be in the spotlight. Your Sun Sign tells you more about how and where you shine. Where and how you shine is part of your soul’s multiple purposes. You don’t have one singular purpose; you have multiple purposes. Your multiple purposes don’t all have to do with career/work although your career/work can be part of your purpose. But, once you discover your purposes, life doesn’t magically fall into place.
Certainly, some things can come together more and you can feel more clarity, which can create important internal and external shifts in your life, but life is life and there will always be challenges. Also, sometimes, you finally discover something that feels like your element, but it feels hard to put it into action or make money from it. This doesn’t mean that you “shouldn’t” be doing the thing, it probably just means that it takes time. Keep using your gifts and do what feels meaningful to you. Astrology also shows us that there are times to shine, and times to retreat.
When I say that you have multiple purposes, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you have multiple career paths although you probably do. Your purpose isn’t just about your career, it can also be about your living situation, who you’re in relationship with (both platonically and romantically), what you’re studying or learning, your contribution to social justice, your hobbies and what brings you joy and pleasure.
Think about your Sun sign. You can listen to the episode I did on your Sun sign from the previous section. What are the qualities of this sign that resonate with how you shine?
If you want to learn more about what the Sun signifies, I suggest listening to this podcast episode I did about Learning To Shine Brightly: Leo & The Sun.
