HOW TO PREPARE FOR ECLIPSE SEASON
Eclipses bring change and transitions; they're linked to our destiny. Sometimes, these changes are sudden and unexpected. Other times, they've been brewing on the back burner and are finally making a splash.
Eclipses set things in motion that your soul came here to do. At times, this can be more subtle at first, then grow into something bigger. Other times, it's quite an obvious, significant event that has happened propelling you on a new path.
To help you during this pivotal time, here are my six suggestions below on how to prepare.
Do Less, Not More
Try not to make too many plans or schedule yourself to be as busy as a bee. Eclipses are intense times that bring unexpected changes. If you put too much on your plate, then you’ll be running yourself ragged and feeling overwhelmed and exhausted. Try not to schedule too much from the time eclipse season begins (one week before the first eclipse) until the end (one week after the second eclipse). You’re looking at a one month period of eclipse season to schedule less and do less. You might have commitments outside of your control, and that’s okay, but try not to add much to your plate beyond that.
Rest More
Eclipses can zap your energy. Our sources of light and vitality, the Sun and the Moon, are blocked during eclipses, and this can make us more tired and sleepy. Spend more time resting, sleeping and relaxing. You might find that you have trouble sleeping during eclipses, so you’ll need extra time to nap and rest when you aren’t able to sleep much through the night. Eclipses can stir new changes in your life, and having extra down time and rest can be immensely supportive for your body, your nervous system and your soul to adapt to any new changes that arise.
Ease Stress
There can be a lot more going on during eclipses as they tend to be a time of heightened activity. Be gentle with yourself, your body and your emotions. Stay extra hydrated drinking more water and maybe electrolytes as well. If you feel like moving your body, then do it an enjoyable way. Eclipses are not times to push, they are times to be more gentle. For example, I still run and workout during eclipses, but I go easier instead of trying to go hard or too fast. To ease stress, engage in more activities that are soothing to your nervous system and mind.
Expect Wonkiness
Eclipses are thought of as fated events that take place in our life. Ancient astrologers saw them as a time to basically hunker down and let fate runs its course because what happens during eclipse season is out of our control.
Astrologer, S.J. describes, eclipses as "accelerated fatedness; things get wonky and strange; reality changes and inverts. They're a clue that reality is different than it normally is."
Expect things to feel weird. Weird, wonkiness in the air. You might think, what is going on? Remember, this is simply the energy we are dealing with during eclipse season. Try to go with the flow and surf the wave of wackiness.
Adapt and Be Flexible
Because eclipses can spark unexpected and surprising changes in our lives, you’ll want to wear your adaptive gear and be flexible when you need to be. Eclipses might affect someone close to you, which, in turn, impacts you, and might require you to adapt to something new. Plans are subject to change, which is another reason why I suggest scheduling less in your life during the month-long eclipse season.
If you’re having anxiety about eclipses and the unknown of what they can bring, read this blog post of mine to give you some ease. Please remember that eclipses affect everyone differently and not everyone’s life is disrupted by them. Everyone is affected by them, but in different ways. You could be affected by this upcoming eclipse from having a spiritual epiphany or feeling inspired to start a new business! It can absolutely be a positive turning point for you.
Treat It As A Retreat
If possible, treat eclipse season as a personal retreat for you and/or your family. You could go on a literal vacation, or do what I do and retreat inside your home. Instead of making grand plans, you’re having a kind of staycation even if you’re working. The difference is, you’re making more time for rest, relaxation and home activities. Obviously, it’s going to depend on your situation, but think about how you can retreat more during eclipse season, even if it’s simply taking more cat naps.
